Valentines Concert for Veterans

The Platters are featured entertainment for Valentines Week of events.

Atlanta VA Medical Center in Decatur, GA, was one of seventeen VA medical centers selected to host a Valentines for Veterans Concert featuring "The Platters."

Tuesday, January 25, 2011

In February of each year, VA Medical Centers across the country hold a week-long National Salute to Veterans with special activities.  The Atlanta VA Medical Center in Decatur, GA, was one of seventeen VA medical centers selected to host a Valentines for Veterans Concert.  The concert is being sponsored nationally by Help Hospitalized Veterans, the largest supplier of free therapeutic arts & crafts to VA and military hospitals worldwide.

This concert is timed to coincide with National Salute to Veteran Patients, February 13-19, 2011.  Veterans, military personnel, their families, and the community are invited to attend.  Admission to this concert is complimentary as the event is meant to honor Veterans for the freedoms we enjoy each day.  In addition, it is intended to raise awareness of the VA’s role in providing comprehensive care to our Nation’s Heroes and to promote volunteerism at our facility.

On February 11, 2011 at 7:00 p.m., The Platters will be performing at the Ferst Center for the Performing Arts on the Georgia Institute of Technology campus.  The Platters are known for hits such as “Smoke Gets in Your Eyes,” “Only You,” and “Harbor Lights.”  This legendary group will bring their energy, rhythm & blues, and hip sound to Atlanta for this special Veterans appreciation celebration.

Mr. Ken Cook, Chief Meteorologist, FOX 5 News, and long time National Salute Supporter, will be our Emcee for this wonderful event.  The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and tickets will be available on a first come first serve basis. There is a limited number of wheelchair seating available. Tickets are complimentary!

For additional information, you can call the Atlanta VAVS, Valentines for Veterans Hotline at (404) 321-6111 ext 3217.
