The Atlanta VAMC is committed to protecting and improving the environment and managing our environmental footprints, and encourages VA employees at all levels to be good stewards of the environment by complying with all applicable environmental requirements, preventing pollution, reducing waste, conserving energy, water, and other natural and cultural resources, and continuing to seek opportunities for improving VA environmental programs.

Atlanta VAMC Recycles: 

Paper Products, cardboard, aluminum, plastic (#1 & 2), fluorescent light bulbs, printer cartridges, yard waste / compost, pallets, metal, and furniture

Alkaline batteries

Rechargeable batteries:  Small, dry cell rechargeable batteries eligible for collection and recycling are:

·         Nickel Cadmium (Ni-Cd)

·         Nickel Metal Hydride (Ni-MH)

·         Lithium Ion (Li-ion)

·         Nickel Zinc (Ni-Zn)

·         Small Sealed Lead (Pb)*

*weighing less than 11 lbs/5 kg each.
