Safety Office

  1. Safety Management – hazard assessments, accident investigation, safety training, construction safety and risk assessments.
  2. Fire Prevention/Protection – fire drills, fire response, fire investigations, fire alarm system oversight.
  3. Nursing Home/Adult Day Cares/Residential Board and Care Homes – conducting over 134 facility fire safety inspections and annual work place evaluations.
  4. Industrial Hygiene Program – conducting IH evaluations, performing noise/air sampling for contaminants, addressing indoor air quality issues, managing respiratory protection program, managing asbestos program, and managing the hazardous waste program.
  5. Green Environmental Management Program – implementing recycling/reuse/waste minimization programs; encouraging VA employees at all levels to be good stewards of the environment by complying with all applicable environmental requirements, preventing pollution, reducing waste, conserving energy, water, and other natural and cultural resources, and continuing to seek opportunities for improving VA environmental programs
