Data Analytics Core

The VA Data Analytics Core supports Atlanta VA research, management, QA/QI, and providers with rapid and reliable data analysis related to Research and Quality Improvement/Management.  The staff under the direction of a Ph.D. Level Biostatistician provide expertise in study design, data mining, and statistical data analyses to capitalize on VA data-rich resources.

How to request services?  Complete the Request for Biostatistics Request Form then send to Dr. Cui, Director of the DAC.  Please click here for the current fee schedule.

Dr. Xiangqin Cui (Director)

Dr. Cui is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics at Emory. Before joining Emory in 2017, she was a faculty member in the Biostatistics Department at University of Alabama at Birmingham for 13 years.  Her research experience includes genetics, genomics, epigenomics, and observational studies.  She has collaborated extensively in studies of kidney disease, cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, and nutrition. Her current research interests include method development and data analysis of various "omics" and electronic health records.

Julia Gallini, MS (Masters Statistician)

Ms. Gallini is a biostatistician for the Data Analytics Core and works mainly with study design and data analysis. Her research experience includes statistical collaboration with physicians, non-profit groups, and academics. Her main clinical areas of interest are infectious disease and cancer.  She graduated with a Master’s degree in biostatistics from the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University in 2019. She received bachelor’s degrees in both biostatistics and mathematics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2017.

Christine Jasien, BS   (Data Manager)

Ms. Jasien has a background in Computer Science and over 14 years experience as a data manager in the Health Services Research and Development group at the Atlanta VA.

She is a skilled SQL programmer and knowledgeable about a wide variety of VA data. As an experienced VINCI and DART user, she is adept in the process of requesting, obtaining and managing data for research, operations, and quality improvement projects.
